In a Bokanovsky Process, “an egg will bud, will proliferate, and will divide. From eighty to ninety -six buds making ninety-six human beings” (pg6). Only the lower classes receive the Process. The introduction of Henry Foster gives a businesslike feeling to the Hatchery procedure by dealing with facts and figures, rather than emotions. Henry Foster resembles an accountant. When Lenina sees the Director, “her smile flashed redly at him” (pg16), revealing she is respectable and also she might have feelings towards the Director.

Bokanovsky's Process is a fake process in Brave New World of human cloning that is a key aspect of the world.. The Hatchery is only for certain caste in the World State. The five castes are Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta, and Epsilon. Gamma, Delta, and Epsilon are the only ones that do go through the Bokanovsky Process. The process involves shocking an egg so that it divides to form up to ninety-six identical embryos, which then develop into ninety-six of the same human beings. The Alpha and Beta embryos never go through the dividing process, which can weaken the embryos. In chapter one it explains that "a bokanovskified egg will bud, will proliferate, and will divide. Everyone is the same, and no one is unique. After two-hundred and sixty-seven days, the babies are decanted, which is the equivalent of birth. A select few individuals will gain control over cloning, and will produce an obedient race at will. One is the loss of the meaning of life.” The Director explains that the Bokanovsky Process facilitates social stability because the clones it produces are depended on fate to perform same tasks at te same machines. The cloning process is one of the tools the World State uses to implement its guiding motto: “Community, Identity, Stability.”

A. The Bokanovsky Process is what the D.H.C. use to make their humans. For this process to be successful the egg “will bud, will proliferate, and will divide” (Huxley). After that happens the egg buds into about ninety-six and then it forms into an embryo. After the embryo forms then it is turned into a full sized human. I think that this process is not smart because in a way it is messing with nature and is going beyond what the normal process is. The normal process is “one egg, one embryo, one adult” (Huxley) and that is as simple as it should be. To go through the Bokanovsky process it seems that by doing this they’re making it too science fiction and not natural like it should be.

B. The introduction of Mr. Foster gives a business like feeling because as he is introduced he is ask questions about his work and facts about what goes on. As the tour goes on he is asked to come along and tell the boys more about the place. He seems to know pretty much everything about what goes on, this makes it seem business like, just like a worker in an office building should know much about his job.

The bokanovsky process occurs during the time semen and an egg would connect to continue the reproduction, but in this case the embryo is shocked. The shocking then separates the egg into 96 other identical embryos, and thus creating Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta, and Epsilson humans. This method is absolutely evil, and it is not essential to the world. Having the same identical world, where everyone is expected to do what they are programmed is not being a world. Being programmed relates to a computer, something which humans are not. I am who I am because I'm not like others, which is what makes me a human. This process should not even be a choice as to how the human race should continue after a disaster or any catastrophe. We are who we are because you and me, and others are not the same.

The Bokanovsky process is a process used to make the eggs “bud, proliferate, [and] divide” (p.8). Bokanovkified eggs will form “eight to ninety-six buds, and every bud will grow into a perfectly formed embryo, and every embryo into a full-sized adult.” (8) The Bokanovksky process is a tedious process but in the long run it is easier having multiple buds form out of one instead of only having one embryo from one egg. I personally disagree and agree with some of the process. I agree that using the Bokanovsky process would be cheaper and easier than having one egg grow into one person. I disagree with the process because they shouldn’t try and mess with cycle the of life. We were made to only have one egg to create one person not create sixty people with the same egg.

The Bokanovsky Process is a process used in the fictional novel, Brave New World by Aldous Huxley. In the year 632 A.F.(meaning after Henry Ford), humans no longer produce natural offspring with the next generation of adults. So in the Directories of Hatcheries and Conditioning, humans are produced in a similar way to factories. Machines are used to mass produce these "products". The process involves using fetuses produced from surgically removed ovaries. Each fetus is "destined" for one of 5 castes: Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta, and Epsilon. Only Gamma, Delta, and Epsilon undergo the Bokanovsky Process. Through this process, each fetus destined for Gamma, Delta, and Epsilon gets shocked which forces it to divide into 96 identical embryos which go on to develop into 96 identical fully developed human beings. The Alpha and Beta embryos do not undergo this process because of the risk of it becoming weakened. This cloning process predetermines who does what in life because in the process, the factory controllers "predestine and condition" (13). This is similar to the world today because there are far fewer Alphas and Betas than there are Gammas, Deltas, or Epsilons who do the menial labor in life.

The Bokanovsky process in the novel is what is used to clone human beings. the scientists believe that this is the way to create an identical society that people are required to do as they are told. the egg is shocked and split into ninety six buds. After this they become a n embryo, then proceed to grow into a full sized human being. I think that this a bad idea, it is not the way that humans should be brought into the world. and I also believe that this will eventually backfire somehow. When people begin to tamper to much with human genetics things always go wrong.

Carrie---I agree because if humans are created by the Bokanovsky then you might as well take the "man" out of "human."

The bokanovsky process is a kind of mechanical process to give birth to people. Kind of like cloning. But in this process the people are programmed to be a certain way. they devide the people into different groups(i.e.Alpha, beta, grammes, epsilon.) alphas being the highest class of them all.

Bokanovsky's Process is a fictional process of human cloning that is the main concept of how they wanted people to be made. It is a fake process in Brave New World. It is basically the government trying to control the number of humans to combine them in this social world.

A. The Bokanovsky process is when selected people in the hatchery building push the ova of a women to limits of death by being "suddenly chilled...were dosed almost to death with alcohol[.]"(7) and by pushing the ova to it's limits the ova would respond in budding into anything from eight to ninety six other identical ova.
B. The introduction of henry foster gives the hatchery a businesslike feeling by throwing out figures and numbers.also he compares the hatchery in London to other hatcheries around the world and acts as if they were in a race to prove the better.
C. Lenina's reaction to the director's familiarity shows that the two might know each other a little bit more than friends but also her "deferential smile"(17) shows that she has a respect towards him either as a higher office respect or a respect of relationship.

the Bokanovsky Process, "one egg, one embryo, one adult-normality. But a bokanovskified egg will bud, and every will bud, will proliferate, will divide. From eight to ninety-six buds, and every bud will grow into a perfectly formed embryo, and every embryo into a full-sized adult. Making ninety-six human beings grow where only one grew before. Progress."
(page 6)

i do not agree with this because, this was their way of making society "all the same" or "alike". So they can have their Utopia.

Henry Foster seems buisnesslike because, instead of showing emotion he used facts and figures.

The Bokanovsky Process is "one of the major instruments of social stability" (7). The process consists of "budding." An egg will bud into an embryo which will create a human. Ninety-six humans will be created from the individual embryos. The Gamma, Delta, and Epsilon rays are used to undergo the process. Alpha and Beta rays remain in the incubators until the contents are placed back in the bottles. Some of the weak eggs die while undergoing the machines X-rays. After being shocked, "the least susceptible divided into two; most put out four buds; some eight;" and then the test tubes are returned to the incubators.

A. "One egg, one embryo, one adult - normality". But a bokanovsky egg "will bud, will proliferate, will divide". each egg ranges from eight to ninety-six buds, and every bud will grow into a perfect embryo, and every embryo into an adult. This process was supposed to produce ninety-six times the people a normal embryo would produce.
B. Henry Foster gives a businesslike feeling to the procedure because he does not care to deal with the emotions in the procedure, he rather would use "simple" or more understandable methods such as scientific facts.
C. Lenia shows that she is familiar with the director because "her smile flashed redly at him" when she first sees him. This suggests that she has more intimate feelings for him than just casual friendship

A. The Bokanovksy Process is a process by which a human egg's normal development is arrested. It then starts to bud and produce a vast amount of identical eggs. This process is used for the lower class; not the Alphas and Betas. The process is not used for the Alphas and Betas because it weakens the embryos. Birth is purely scientific when using the Bokanovksy Process.

Jimmy-- I understand where you are coming from when you say that there are fewer Alphas and Betas doing the menial labor in today's society. But I question the truth in that statement. Today in society jobs that are considered "sticky" such as a garbage man, or a plumber actually make rather well paying salaries. In today's society I question who are the Alphas and Betas; those who have the "clean" jobs and make a lower salary, or those who have the "sticky" jobs but are well payed?

The Bokanovsky Process is a process of human cloning done by the D.H.C. which was reserved for the Gamma, Delta, and Epsilon classes. The process is started by applying fertilized human eggs in vitro, causing them to split into identical genetic copies of the original. Even though the process can be repeated several times, the maximum number of viable embryos is 96. In the novel, the record of times it was said to be done was 17,000 times by scientists in Mombasa. This is how the society in Brave New World was supplied with the lower echelons to do its menial work, like working elevators and such. Cloning in the first place is a concept that shouldn't be messed with, nobody was put on the earth identical to one other and it should stay that way. This process seems quite evil in my opinion, creating identical clones is inhumane and could corrupt the world's society.

Franklin-
I agree because they are messing with nature and not letting nature take its coarse. Also it seems wrong that they do this because not everybody should be created to be a perfect human being.

The Bokanovsky Process is a process used when creating life. Created in the D.H.C, the Gammas, Deltas and Epsilons are the only castes to go through the Bokanovsky Process. The process makes up to 96 indentical embryos eventually growing up into cloned humans. Since the process weakens the embryos the Alphas and Betas are excluded. While the Alphas and Betas are excluded the Bokanovsky process still eliminates originallity in the society of Brave New World. As far as the Director is concerned, this process creates stabilty. The cloning process is one of the tools the World State uses to inforce it's "community, Identity, Stability" motto.

Alex- What a great view you have on the Bokanovsky Proess. I completely agree with what you think. They are bacially cloning them because they were brought up with only the opinion of the goverment not their own.-Kayla^^

Endri I agree with you that we all are who we are because of the way that we were raised and the fact thatt we are all differnt. I also beleive it to be an evil process, whenever you take away a humans right to grow the way that nature intended is is wrong. I hope that the things that they are doing never really happen in our lifetime. Because I beleive that it will lead to very bad things.

In the Bokanovsky Process, you can go "from eighty to ninety-six buds making ninety-six human beings" (pg6). Therefore creating a massive amount of "test-tube" babies. Obliterating the original baby making process. The process takes a long journey through different stages of production where factory workers input certain protiens and hormones.

In Bokanovsky's process is essentially the process used in Brave New World to clone people. The process starts when the eggs are fertilized. The eggs are then put through, "a large metal box" (pg.6), in which they are, "divided into two; some put out four buds; some eight"(pg.6). The eggs are able to produce, "ninety-six buds"(pg.6) all of which will grow into a fetus and then be born. The idea behind this is to produce lots of labor quickly. The director says that the, "Bokanovsky Process is one of the major instuments of social stability"(pg.7).
